Empowering Communities

We began with a belief that change starts locally. By listening to the voices of our neighbours, working alongside grassroots groups, and drawing on the strength of the third sector, we aim to create a network of support that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Learn More About Us

The Ribbon Project (CIC) was founded in 2024 with a simple but powerful vision: to bring people together in care, compassion, and community. Based in the Black Country, we are a not-for-profit organisation working to ensure that mental health support is available to people of all ages, from children and young people to adults and older generations.

Our Approach

Making a Tangible Difference

We don’t see ourselves as “experts swooping in.” Instead, we walk alongside people, listening first and acting with humility. Every programme we run is shaped by lived experience, because we know that those who have walked the path understand it best.

Why We Started

Inspire and Empower

The Ribbon Project (CIC) was born out of a simple but urgent truth; too many people in our communities were struggling in silence. In the Black Country, we saw children, young people, adults, and older people facing mental health challenges without knowing where to turn. We also saw the incredible strength of local communities and third sector organisations, working tirelessly but often without enough support.

We started because we believe no one should feel alone in their struggles. We wanted to create a space where people could be heard without judgement, where compassion comes before bureaucracy, and where practical help is offered alongside kindness.

Our beginnings were humble conversations around kitchen tables, listening to lived experiences, and asking one another, “What can we do to make things better?” From those conversations grew a shared commitment; to build something rooted in care, community, and hope.

We know we cannot fix everything, but we can stand alongside people. That’s why we exist, to walk with our neighbours through difficult times, to amplify the voices of the vulnerable, and to help weave a stronger, more compassionate Black Country for generations to come.

Looking Ahead

Envision a Brighter Future

Our journey is only just beginning. We know the challenges are great; mental health needs are rising, and communities face increasing pressures but we also know that together, we can make a difference. Step by step, conversation by conversation, we are building a future where support is accessible, stigma is reduced, and no one is left behind.
